Dont Be Caught Frozen In The Headlights When Something Threatens Your Relationship Or Marriage

My beloved workshop was once hit by a flash flood, and while I was outside building dams and watersheds behind it to divert the flash flood current in the middle of a deluge of rain, something struck me that every man should know, especially when things aren't working right in his relationship or marriage.I live at the mouth of a somewhat shallow sort of box canyon, elevated above the normal flood plain, but in the perfect spot for the run-off from two ridges and a hillside tor run past my house and into a large creek that continues down the hill. The rain started coming down very hard that day, on the heels of a solid week of rain that had already saturated the ground to the point that we already had standing water, and I looked out a window and saw the largest stream of water I've seen since I've lived here running from behind my workshop and across about an acre of my lawn. Curiosity and concern aroused, I donned rain gear and went out to inspect, and it was a very good thing that I did so, and not a minute too soon. The rain was increasing, and the run-off had started a flash flood coming down the hills and converging just behind my workshop, and it was slamming into the back of it so hard that the water was shooting under the walls and washing across the concrete floor of the shop. Luckily, all of my equipment is on wheels or mobile bases, so none of the cast iron parts of my table saw, jointer, planer, drill press, lathe, etc., got wet, but there was some exotic wood and a few cardboard boxes with new tools and materials in them getting wet and the feet of my solid beech workbench were sitting in an inch of water.I quickly got those things out of harm's way and went out back to address the on-coming flood, which now literally resembled rapids in a large creek. There was a pile of broken concrete where I had repoured part of the driveway and several large ricks of firewood, so I grabbed a shovel and mattock to dig trenches through some high spots that were allowing water to pool near my workshop and then started throwing up dams of concrete chunks, firewood, and spare roofing shingles to divert the water around the workshop to keep it from driving into and under the walls. While all of this was going on, I was reminded of an old naval comedy called "Down Periscope" (you can see the description and reviews at IMDB's website at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116130), in which there was a scene where the submarine they're on is leaking and flooding and everybody is scrambling, and at the end, one of the crew, who had almost drowned trying to stop a gushing leak any fire hydrant would be proud to produce, brushes the water out of his hair and says, "Now that was FUN!" And it hit me...I grew up on a farm, and when something bad happened, there was neither time nor tolerance for throwing up one's hands and saying, "Oh no! What are we going to do?" or to simply do nothing and hope that the problem fixed itself. Problems that affected the farm equipment, or especially the crops, could mean the difference between eating and going hungry. So when a problem came up, we were like the guys on that submarine. Everybody pounced on the problem, handling what they were best-suited to do first, getting the most critical elements handled first, and continuing, quickly and rationally, until it was fixed and the crisis was resolved. That's how a man must handle ALL problems if he is to respect himself and be respected. It's the only way that he can head off trouble before it gets too big, and the only way he can handle trouble that is too big and moving too fast to head off while it's small. It's the only way that his wife will trust his judgment and leadership, which must happen if she is going to be happy in the marriage, want to play and have fun with the man, feel like engaging in an active sex life, etc.So if things around the house, at work, or especially in your marriage are anywhere from slowly deteriorating to being in full-scale crisis, don't be some scared wuss frozen in the headlights of an on-coming disaster while your life and everything you hold dear washes past your feet. Take action. The self-respect you gain from handling things will boost your confidence, and thereby your attractiveness, and as your self-confidence and self-respect grow, your wife will be drawn inescapably closer to you as primal instinct overwhelms her with the feelings that she can trust you and that she has married well.It sounds like a tall order, but it's really not. If you look back at your life, the hardest part of every crisis or major project you've ever faced has most l likely been the decision to act, not the action itself. Once the decision is made, everything else is just follow-through. And if you take off in the wrong direction, you can make course corrections, whereas standing still and doing nothing will do nothing more than guarantee that whatever problem you're facing will get worse until either you do something about it or it runs over you.If it's your relationship or marriage that is slowing down, hiccupping, or coming apart at the seams, that is the LAST problem you could expect to fix itself; relationship and marriage problems always get worse without attention. They fester like a boil, and finally erupt in a smelly, painful mess of pus and blood. And it doesn't have to go down that way, even if the marriage was one of those that never should have happened in the first place. The worst marriages in the world can be dissolved peacefully and with dignity if you know that it must be ended and know what to do to end it properly. There's tested and proven help for you in my book, "THE Man's Guide to Great Relationships and Marriage," and it's about a mouse-click away at http://www.makingherhappy.com/. It started with the stated needs and desires of 188 women, and was then tested and refined through the use and feedback of 118 couples, and has been continuously refined with the experience of thousands since; indeed, I'm about to release another, much larger update now, and it has always been and will continue to be my policy to provide free updates (and to replace lost copies) to anyone who has purchased in the past (as long as one of us can find some record of their purchase, even if it's just an old credit card statement with my company name and the right price on it). It's working for everyone who uses it, and I have the testimonials to prove it. Think not? This one came the day I first posted this lesson:David,Nearly four years ago I purchased your book when it was still titled "How To Be Attractive To The Woman You Love." I consider it among my personal list of top five most influential and helpful books (a list that includes the Bible). Your book is a short read loaded with invaluable tools for MEN. You not only help understand the advanced intuitive female mind and its machinations but also help each one of us "man up." It's when I've drifted from your lessons that old habits or new complications have entered my life.I was in a long-term relationship that recently ended. Part of it I attribute to finding myself unemployed and dealing with the ongoing distractions that presents. The other, deeper problem was the inability to completely connect with the person I loved even after years of being together. I believe the end came about because of a lack of intimacy. Outwardly, she seemed easily offended or embarrassed by matters relating to sex, yet I realized too late that she longed for ongoing sexual intimacy. As men, I think we tend to focus on sex from the physical aspects and easily lose sight of the emotional reinforcement it brings for women we love.I'm now trying - too late for my last love - to refresh that awareness into my personal spirit of manhood. That has brought me back to a new diligence in following your manly wisdom. Your ongoing newsletter is the best at providing daily jewels of information on how to be a man, a loving man in a relationship. You have done your part. I must do mine with constant vigilance. I honor you for your dedication and the insights you share. You are a great guide to the mysterious path of womanhood. Thanks for lighting the way.LYou see? Even when unusual stress takes a man out of character, he comes back and regains his manhood, his life, and a great relationship or marriage, whether he has it or finds one. And this guy is a well-read corporate type who is into self-help texts, and he's listing this on among his "top five most influential and helpful books." I wonder what he would have said if he had been able to join our forum, http://forum.makingherhappy.com/, and been able to share his questions and experiences with others as today's members do.Today is a perfect example; two men are having intimacy problems with their wives, I'm answering their questions and the women are jumping in to reinforce what I tell them and then elaborate on things I didn't mention. We've spent our lives wishing women would tell us when they had a problem with something we did instead of telling everyone they know BUT us, and here they are, laying it out in detail to help us get it.So it's time for you to get moving to http://www.makingherhappy.com/ and start making things better right now. Or you could just keep right on standing there, the deer caught in the headlights, while everything you hold dear (and own!) goes right down the tubes in a flood of emotion, frustration, and confusion, except of course for the part that goes to line the lawyers' pockets or to keep the wife's boredom from killing you both. It's your choice, so make it a good one.In the meantime, live well, be well, and have a wonderful day!David Cunningham "Being a man is something to which one should aspire, not something for which he should apologize." --David Cunningham

Online Hypnotherapy

Online Hypnotherapy
Before I started the certification course at The Northwest Hypnotherapy School, I investigated a number of online courses in the same field. Before I jumped into school here in Portland, Or. I needed to know what was going in the rest of the world and if I was going to get my money's worth. And if it was going to be worth my time.

By going online I thought that,

* I could find out how realistic it was for me to make a living in the field without committing to a course.
* I could ascertain if the course outlines where similar and if I could get ( to some degree) the same level of confidence in a home study course as in person, and
* How much money I might save by taking hypnotherapy school online.

I thought these were legitimate questions and would urge anyone looking into hypnotherapy as a career to explore the same as I did. I noticed straight away that there were many courses through hypnotherapy "schools" or "institutions" or even "foundations" that offered pages and pages of free downloads to study. So I did just that and started reading the material. Most of them started with a brief history of hypnosis and more than a brief outline of all the popular misconceptions of what hypnotherapy was not.

The one that I chose to continue with seemed well planned out, with chapters dedicated to subject matter considered imperative to be an effective hypnotherapist. They also offered online email support and phone support. So again, I did just that and emailed them with a simple question on the boundaries of my practice once I completed their course. I received an email back in two days saying that the email service was for students paying for the course. This seemed fair enough, however, I figured the time it took them to write me the email they could have answered the question as well. But that's just me and my analytical mind trying to find something wrong with anything. I then tried the phone and don't you know a fellow picked up. Our conversation was lively and informative. The gentleman on the other end was obviously experienced and I really liked the way he presented the prospects of not only being a certified hypnotherapist but also of being a skilled hypnotist. He had some good stories and we must have spent almost a half an hour on the phone. I was inspired. He urged me to read all the course material and then call him back. This was more that 300 pages, but I thought "why not? I'm going to have to read them anyway." With all the scripts ( not included in the free download ), the additional bound material sent by mail and the accreditation, the institution would charge me a total of 699. Not too steep for a new career and I could decide after I read most of the course material if I wanted to go for it. I had seen some online courses that were less expensive, but the majority of hypnotherapy courses offered over the internet ran about 1000, with many offering extra services for extra dollars.

After reading another brief history of hypnosis, the first exercise was Chevreul's Pendulum Experiment. The example shown consists of a circle with cross-hairs quartering it. The letter A is at 9 A.M., the letter B at 3 P.M., the letter D at 6 P.M. and the letter C at 12 o'clock. The idea is to make your mind swing a pendulum from your extended arm any way you want it to go with the help of the guidelines of the circle - up and down, counterclockwise as well as clockwise. I didn't have a pendulum so I used a tea bag. With a bit of practice and concentration it seemed to work. Now I didn't know if I was a born hypnotherapist or if this would work for anyone or simply that the involuntary muscles in my arm were responding to my mental command. If it was the latter, which made sense to me, then I knew that my first exercise in hypnotherapy was both a hoax and convincing proof in the power of the subconscious. My conscious mind could certainly not move the tea bag without moving my arm, but I intuitively understood that my muscles could respond to the natural operator within me - that operator being my subconscious. This posed a series of more questions that I figured would have to be answered for real.

Nlp Practitioner 7 Day Residential 17Th 24Th November 2008

HELP PEOPLE GET MORE OF THE RESULTS AND OUTCOMES THEY WANT MORE QUICKLY, MORE CONSISTENTLY AND MORE EFFECTIVELY! (INCLUDES NLP PRACTITIONER CERTIFICATION)

This programme is unlike anything you will find anywhere else on the planet!

Magical training for groups of up to 8 participants!

Our Communicate4 Partners Julie French and Tony Burgess have total commitment to providing you with an exceptionally high quality experience, in which you will live, breathe and appreciate the power of NLP and more. A truly special and life-enhancing programme!

When you choose this NLP Training, you are choosing a life-enriching experience that you can only just begin to imagine now.

It has repeatedly become very clear to us that although people invest in our training very readily, they are usually unaware of just how much of a positive impact it is going have until they actually arrive and begin to experience it.

Julie and Tony have already delivered three 'open' programmes in 2008 and our fourth 7 DAY RESIDENTIAL this year takes place on the 17TH NOVEMBER TO 24TH NOVEMBER at a special venue in GLASTONBURY.

Julie and Tony carefully select residential venues to create that perfect atmosphere for your learning and development...Imagine having all your needs catered for from the moment you arrive until the moment that you leave, so you can simply focus on enjoying and engaging with the learning experience. We think you deserve to be looked after well whilst you train!

Some of the KEY FACTORS that enrich your learning experience so significantly include the following:

o SMALL GROUPS

We insist on training only small groups of delegates (usually a max of 8 people) which means that you get maximum attention from us as your trainers.

o ACCELERATED LEARNING

The way we train and coach you really accelerates your learning by operating at both conscious and unconscious levels of processing and by the time you depart you will be a shining example of NLP excellence.

o CLEAR, PRACTICAL AND SUPER-SIMPLE

We provide a unique, clear, practical and super-simple conceptual model through which you can apply all of your change tools (existing and new) to effect positive change effortlessly and reliably, whatever it is that your clients want to achieve.

o NO JARGON

We keep out of the unnecessary jargon that often goes with teaching models and methods for facilitating change. We know that helping you to shine as the outstanding facilitator of change that you can be, is about helping you to 'perform' super-effectively rather than helping you to use fancy terms.

o POWERFUL

We teach you to be able to work 'content-free' (hence the reference to 'blindfolded' at the top of the page). What we mean by this is that you will become skilled at helping people to make massive progress even when you don't know what it is that they actually want to achieve (only the clients themselves need to know what they want in order for you to help them massively). This is so powerful. By being able to offer content-free support, you can keep the change process 'pure', freeing the clients own solutions and resources to move forward effectively. Being able to operate in this way makes you a change facilitator that can operate at a level that is head and shoulders above the level at which most are operating.

o FREE LIFETIME SUPPORT

When you graduate from the programme, you will be personally supported by us for FREE for your whole lifetime (or at least for as long as we are alive and well enough to support you), as you become part of the Academy's treasured 'family'.

To find out more or to book YOUR 7 DAY NLP PRACTITIONER RESIDENTIAL email us on INFO@COMMUNICATE4.CO.UK or call us on 08443 577 222

We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Real Time Homeschool Day Re Cap

Real Time Homeschool Day Re Cap
Want a quick re-cap on what types of things the Bees are learning at homeschool? Most people who begin homeschooling are interested in seeing what a REAL day looks like. Not your perfect day... when you feel like Martha Stewart mixed with Mother Teresa. You know the days I'm talking about (they are the Holy Grail of homeschooling and happen about twice a year, or twice a month if you are next to perfect)... those are the ones that most homeschool bloggers like to brag about on their blogs. How about getting REAL for a change? I often wonder what it is like in other homeschoolers' homes. If only we could be flies on the wall.

Here's the nitty-gritty of how our day went today. Lots of things didn't get done, but we made progress. I always shoot high, anyway. My lists are always too long to ever complete. I'm working on making them more digestible (still). If you have read my blog for any length of time, you'll know that it is an area I've struggled with forEver!

A glimpse of our day*:

Morning

Up with Daddy to talk to him before he leaves for work briefly. Kids eat breakfast with him (6:30 AM). We all do some morning chores and I check email and do some goofing off on the computer (here's where I went wrong with the day... should have done my planning, prayer journal and praying first!). Oops.

School Starts/Prep

Kids shower and start school a few minutes late (8:08am). I print off their school assignment list.

Character (Mom and the Kids)

I'm learning to let go of the perfectionism and be happy when we get half of my long list checked off. I'm also learning (and the retreat this past weekend was a wonderful help) that I need to keep myself from getting mad, depressed, grumpy or upset when things don't go as planned. I guess that is called "being flexible". You would think I am flexible... and I do have a really spontaneous side; however, I tend to fall apart when our goals don't get accomplished. Super-mom syndrome. I'm beginning to claim victory over this area, though. We spent a large part of the last two days since I've been home working on HEART issues during school hours. Unforgiveness, anger, resentment, selfishness, pride, grumpiness, whining, and other nasty attitudes have reared their ugly heads between the kids and even with me. We've been working on instantly dealing with issues and praying for each other so that we can forgive each other and restore the good mood of the day. Trust me... the prayers work. It may take a few times (especially if you begin to really work hard on it)... because of course - if the devil sees you making progress, he's bound to jump on your back.

Bible

We read a great devotional today about a young girl in Pakistan that was brave enough to share her faith despite death threats (Jesus Freaks Vol. 2 by DC Talk). We read about leprosy in Leviticus. We wrote in our prayer journals... and we said a long prayer for all the things on our prayer list that we update each week. The kids took their memory cards (index cards) down from last week and we didn't get to do our new verse. I'll have them do that tomorrow. We also sang some hymns this morning (Morgan suggested this and picked the songs).

Math

We did an A Beka Math worksheet. We're doing review right now (first chapter or so in our new books is mostly review). Today's Math time went awry and we ended up spending over an hour on it. I have a dawdler that just didn't want to focus on the Math.

Morning Snack

Grapes and half of a muffin. I finally ate (forgot to eat breakfast earlier) last night's leftover rice. The kids fought with me for it and ended up nearly tackling each other on the stairs to get every last grain out of the bowl. We had a safety discussion and Mommy laid down the rules about no pushing, shoving, blocking, touching, passing, or otherwise bothering anyone on the stairs.

Writing/Penmanship

Morgan has a few pages left of last year's penmanship and she completed one of the pages today. Kaden finished his book last year, so he wrote five Bible verses in cursive instead. He managed to drag this subject out as well. We didn't get to our proofreading writing lesson, or our journal.

Reading

We read a few library books today that need to be returned tomorrow. Hopefully we will be picking up a whole new set of them tomorrow afternoon. I'm looking forward to being in our new unit and moving on. I do want to finish our read-aloud for this unit ("Around the World in 80 Days" ~ unabridged) before I return it. Looks like I'll have to renew it again. We're going to read the last of our library books tomorrow before we leave the house... and the ones we don't get to - "oh well!".

Geography

We finished our Visualize World Geography study on Japan yesterday, so today we were supposed to look at photos and plan a Japanese meal out that I could cook this weekend for them. However, we didn't get to this today. They did color a worksheet yesterday with all the provinces of Japan and they found the ancient capital city and the current capital city on the map. I'll probably look for some Japan books tomorrow at the library while I load up for our next unit. We did manage to re-pin the map to the school-room wall today, though... while looking for Guiana. Does that count?

Typing

Morgan got to her typing today. She did 18 wpm with 2 errors (98% accuracy) on Mavis Beacon. Kaden missed his, so he'll have to do it tomorrow (he was the one goofing off during Math time and didn't have time to do his typing by the time he finished his worksheets and got caught up).

Italian

Both of the kids did their online Rosetta Stone today. Daddy and Mommy are joining them to learn as they go. Daddy is great at languages and picks things up quickly. He learned French in high-school and still knows what many words mean. I did better in Spanish, but never finished learning it enough to converse. I'm really hoping to buy Rosetta Stone's Italian program (but who can afford 275?). Right now we are using an online library's free version, but it only goes up to a certain level. Maybe by Christmas time I can afford to buy the full versions so we can get really serious about learning.

Lunch

Baked Potatoes

Lifeskills ">'Chores' kind of go without saying at a homeschool house (since of course, the house gets much messier if you are THERE all day). The kids helped me clean up dishes and the kitchen, take care of the cat, and do laundry and put it away today. They mostly do their chores before school starts (at 8am), during their lunch hour, and right before and after dinner. Of course, we do lots of things for school AFTER dinner... so I am not sure you could call that "after school" at our house. Tonight, they did both Italian and Art after dinner.

Science

Other than tid-bits in our books about flight, birds, and planes that we are finishing up... we didn't do any extra science experiments or reading. We do use a textbook from A Beka for science to fill in any gaps I may leave with the unit study method we use. However, I have found that it is not necessary. The kids are usually way ahead of their game.

History

No textbook today. We're about to watch "The Spirit of St. Louis" and "Apollo 13", though (probably Thursday, since we have church tomorrow and the library... and we'll be visiting a friend). We also had a book to read about Amelia Earhart (which I think the kids have read before at some point in history since it is our own book)... but we didn't get to it before Daddy came home and will have to read it tomorrow.

Music

Just some singing this morning. Oh, and we talked about a 'fermata' on the hymn music sheet we were singing from. I couldn't remember what the Italian name for it was. I called it a "hold" and a "Bird's Eye" (less formal names). I explained what it was for as we sang our song. How is that for some music rhythm tutoring "off-the-cuff"? Hopefully tomorrow after church, Chickie will give Kaden his piano lesson.

PE

We'll get a bunch of PE in Friday at our park day with our co-op, but I sure was hoping to take a walk or swim this week. Maybe Thursday. We didn't even get out to check the mail (which requires a walk around the block).

KONOS

We did no KONOS other than the books we read that were on subject. We were so bad today. Not one single KONOS unit study activity got done. We had plans to draw in our journals, discuss things, read a poem, read a Roman Myth, and finish our vocabulary up (if Kaden could find his - he lost it before the weekend and we looked everywhere yesterday and couldn't find it). This is the kind of thing that really gets me upset (when plans fail).

Dinner

Cajun pan-fried fish, baked green beans with butter and brown sugar sauce, butter beans and Mac-n-cheese. We had a quick dinner tonight. Nothing to write home about.

Art

Tonight the kids did a repeat of GeeArt Lesson #3. We (I say 'we' because I'm learning along with them and it is our favorite part of school) learned about layering in our computer canvas, using structure - color - and lighting to show "emphasis", and how the eye is drawn to a certain spot on the canvas. Kaden ran off afterwards to play video games with Daddy, but Morgan spent the rest of the evening until bed time using the computer to create one of her GeeArt challenges (projects that relate to the lesson). Tomorrow we're going to actually get out the messy paints. Yipee!

Bedtime

The kids went to bed at around 10:30 PM. That means tomorrow will come really early. We were having so much fun with computer Art (Morgan and I) that we lost track of time. I was tired at around 9pm, though... so I should have listened to my body and told the kids to go get their nightgowns on when the getting was good. There's something Mommy can work on for tomorrow.

Plans

I'm up at 11:58 finishing this post so I can blog it tomorrow (and while I'm blogging it, tomorrow comes!). The rest of the family is snug in their beds and sound asleep. Before I go to bed, I have to sit down and do a little preparation for tomorrow's school day and pick up some messes. We're going to have a short day tomorrow with our afternoon taken up with a social visit, the library, dinner and church.

Finally, Mommy goes to bed

Zzzzzzzzzzzzz (1:02 AM - I'm guessing here!) I'll be up at 6:30 AM today.... but I certainly won't be blogging! Too much to do, too little time... (less time at the computer will certainly improve tomorrow, don't you think?)

*Of course, this isn't really a typical day. They are all different. That is the beauty of homeschooling. God always keeps you on your toes!

Weird Folk Music

Weird Folk Music
Bob Dylan said in a 1965 interview about folk music: "It's weird, man, full of legend, myth, Bible and ghosts."

Sometimes, the legends can be traced to actual historical events. One example is the Appalachian murder ballad "Omie Wise," which tells the story of a pregnant girl who was drowned by her lover in North Carolina.

The legends, however, can also be less historical and more mythical. One song that is common to Scotland, Ireland, and the Appalachians, under various names, is "The House Carpenter." All the versions of the song tell of a man who comes back from nine months at sea to find his love married to a house carpenter and caring for a child. He then takes her out on his ship where he sinks the ship, killing the woman and her child.

This tale of jealousy, however, takes on more sinister overtones in the Scottish version of the song, which is called "The Demon Lover." In this variant, the woman does not discover until it is too late that her former lover has a cloven hoof. It is then that the demon lover decides to drown her. (The Irish version, as recorded by Dervish, is known as "The Banks of the Sweet Viledee.")

Even more disturbing than the murder ballads are those involving incest. One such song is "The Well below the Valley." The beginning of the song alludes to Christ's conversation with the Samaritan woman at the well. However, instead of revealing the woman's multiple adulterous relationships, the stranger at the well reveals that she has murdered six babies she had through incest.

Finally, one reason for the weirdness of certain folk songs is the simple fact that certain words have been lost and the story line has become obscure. For instance, the following version of "Heathery Hills of Yarrow" (also known as the "The Dowie Dens o' Yarrow") was sung by Micheal O'Domhnaill in the 1970's, and later by his sister Triona Ni Dhomhnaill on the Bothy Band's "Afterhours"; it tells the story of the murder of a woman's lover, but the exact motive is not clear, as it appears to be missing some verses that explain the context.

Watch Out On Dating Scams While Searching For Your Love

Watch Out On Dating Scams While Searching For Your Love
Today, dating web services became very popular amongst Americans. Lots of people already found their spouse, soul mate, or sparkling romance online. Unfortunately, various scams use dating sites to find easy prey - lonely credulous people in pursuit of love. Those scammers invade chatting rooms and social networks, searching for passionate victims. Most of them pretend to be Americans: travellers or expats. Most of them in fact live abroad. Widowed or divorced middle aged women are the most vulnerable demographic cluster for scams. However, some of those criminals specialize in other groups, such as elderly men and women, or disabled.

The scheme of scamming is like this: a handsome man (woman), who has a nice profile on some social media site, shows you some sign of interest. You may have a long period of conversation, while a scammer tries to create close personal ties with you. He or she can even send you a gift, like a perfume or a bouquet of flowers. But earlier or later you will be asked for money.

If you send your "dear friend" some amount of money, it will become the beginning of your "commercial relationship" with the scams. They will make up different hardships and difficult living situations that only your material support is able to resolve. The scammer may also send you checks asking you to cash it because he or she is temporarily out of the country and therefore cannot cash them, or you may be asked to forward a package.

If something like this happens then you have come under attack of criminals. Possibly, they have gathered your personal information from your accounts on social media or matchmaking Internet sites. Their deceptive web profiles are specially concocted to meet your preferences and interests. The pictures from the profiles were downloaded from the open profiles of other users.

In this case you probably not only lose your money, but also take part in an illegal money laundering pattern by cashing checks, sending the money abroad, or by shipping stolen goods.

There is a newly invented scheme where soon after meeting on a dating website you are asked for a further contact on a certain social network website. After getting access to your personal data the scam provokes explicit intimate conversations with you. In the aftermath you will receive a link to a site where your photos, personal information and conversations along with an accusation that you are a cheater are posted. The scammers will offer you to pay a definite sum of money, say 100 dollars, if you want this information being removed. You may send them money, but there is no warranty that the deal will be executed.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and other law enforcement organizations work with work with such cases. The cases of particular interest are that which concern many victims or large sums of money. Many cases are investigated by state or local authorities.

If you were abused by a dating criminal, you are recommended to send a complaint to the US Internet Crime Complaint Center. IC3 officers will investigate your complaint. Also, they will analyze common threads, trying to link different complaints together in order to identify scammers.

These actions will help the authorities to prevent further malpractices.Below, we put together some guidelines on how to escape becoming a victim of dating scams. Your online "friend" may be a cheater if he (she):

* confesses his (her) love for you from the start of the conversation;
* says that he (she) is American who temporarily lives or travels abroad;
* forces you to leave the site where you have got acquainted with him or she, and start communicating through a certain social network website;
* sends you photographs which look as if they were taken from a glamour magazine;
* says about plans to visit you, but after a short while starts to complain about some kind of problems involving money;
* declares about some financial troubles concerning health, children, tragic events, etc.

If you want to keep safe from scammers, you are recommended to well-known web matchmaking services with a good reputation.
