Well, if a man is in a hardware store on a Friday night, he's obviously not out on a date, he's probably pretty handy (AKA MR. FIX-IT), and he most likely has his own home (WHY ELSE WOULD HE BE IN A HOME-IMPROVEMENT STORE), which means stability. This doesn't mean that every man in The Home Depot on Friday night fits these characteristics -- you still need to check for a ring -- but we like this reader's reasoning. If you're tired of the bar scene, try visiting The Home Depot or Lowes this Friday night instead.
If you're not sure how to approach a man once you've spotted one, start with a simple "HI" or perhaps a question about something in the store. According to Margo Howard's reader, simply check out his purchases - in his hands or cart - and make small talk based on that. Men in hardware stores love to talk about their projects and their tools. If, after chatting for a bit, your guy is still clueless that you're flirting, try asking for his phone number or, even better, a cup of coffee.
It may sound crazy, but it may be just crazy enough to work.
